THP Project Purple Initiative: LOS ANGELES, CA
L.A. CADA, Los Angeles Center for Alcohol and Drug Abuse, provides services to adults and youth with substance abuse disorders in Los Angeles County. At L.A. CADA their youth services program works directly with young people, ages 12-19, in both East Los Angeles County and the Whittier County School District.
This January the L.A. CADA staff adopted the THP Project Purple initiative message as one of their youth initiatives forming Team Resilience. Working with at risk youth, the THP Project Purple message was introduced specifically to increase social support for kids, enhance their self-esteem and bring awareness to their local community. At the end of a three day PURPLE event, Team Resilience was empowered, motivated and inspired to continue the GO Purple message!
What does the future hold? The staff at L.A. CADA plan to introduce monthly THP Project Purple initiative events, as well as including the THP Project Purple initiative message in their on-site school programming in the hopes of empowering teens to become self-confident, aware, and take charge of their lives.
THP would like to extend a special thank you to L.A CADA’s Bill Tarkanian and Rabia Hussain for their dedication to making a difference in the lives of others.
